Vitamin A Supplements
Vitamin A is an essential nutrient to the health and wellness of anyone. There are two main sources of Vitamin A:
- Retinyl Palmitate - A synthetic form of Vitamin A
- Beta Carotene - A natural source of Vitamin A
Beta carotene is converted to Vitamin A by the body on an as-needed basis, while retinyl palmitate is already in its proper form. Vitamin A is a fat soluble vitamin, meaning it can be stored in the fatty regions of the body for future use. With beta carotene needing to be converted to Vitamin A, its use is generally a safer route to go down, as excess Vitamin A can become toxic.
Vitamin A is used in a wide variety of functions in the human body including (but not limited to);
- Vision and eye health
- Proper bone growth
- Cell division
- Immune system function
- Linings of the respiratory, urinary and intestinal tracts
The general recommended daily dose for Vitamin A is anywhere from 2,000 to 3,000IU’s per day, although additional factors can increase or decrease the amount needed for optimal health.
