The Right Fitness and Nutrition Plan pt. 2
What is the right fitness plan for you? Should you focus on lifting weights? Is hours upon hours of cardio enough to help you notice results? Is a simple change of diet going to be enough? There are plenty of other fitness questions that could shape your future, not to mention your body, and all need to be weighed in order to decide the proper route to travel.
In my experience, there is no right answer to deciding one’s own right fitness plan. I have always found that the old adage, “If you always do what you’ve always done, you always get what you’ve always got” is incredibly true in the realm of health and fitness. Often our workouts are referred to as routines, but when something becomes routine, it becomes boring and tedious, and results begin to slow, and motivation begins to wane. I am as guilty of this as anybody. So how does one stay motivated and on the path to a healthier, more improved self? Here are a couple of ideas for figuring out their own right fitness plan.
First, try working out with a partner. A workout partner can bring friendly competition into the mix, and nothing motivates people like the desire to outdo others. A training partner makes you accountable for showing up to workout sessions, and can push you harder than if you trained on your own.
Another great way to improve is to try something new. Does a brisk walk on the treadmill scream boredom to you? Take a Spinning class. Give Zumba a shot, or a kickboxing class. There are a variety of ways to do cardio that are fun and exciting, and often you forget that you’re doing something physically difficult because you’re having fun doing it. Fitness should not be a chore.
One of the most important ways to keep progressing forward is to do a variety of training programs. Simple weight lifting is excellent for building strength and muscle, but it is only one piece of the puzzle. Throw in a kickboxing class and you’ve got a recipe for a lean and mean body that’s not to be messed with!
Remember, the right fitness plan does not have to be the same plan you’ve always been following. There is a reason that there is so many ways to get in shape. When you try something new and incorporate multiple training plans, you not only keep progressing forward, but you discover new and fun exercises that you may have been missing out on, and that can make all the difference in the world.
