MSM

MSM is the abbreviated name of the compound methylsulfonylmethane, which is often used in conjunction with glucosamine and chondroitin for joint ailments. MSM is an organic form of sulfur, and we are able to obtain some of this compound through our daily diet. While glucosamine is used to repair damaged cartilage, MSM acts as a powerful anti-inflammatory, providing faster joint pain relief when used in conjunction with glucosamine and chondroitin, and actually allowing those two nutrients to do their jobs better.

There is no current recommended daily dosage for MSM, although typical amounts are anywhere from 750mg to 2000mg, up to three times per day. MSM can also be used topically, to provide a more localized area of pain relief.
