Bodybuilding Supplements

Anyone who is serious about packing on rock hard muscle knows that you need to train hard, eat a proper nutrition plan, and use the best supplements for gaining muscle. With so many supplements out there claiming to revolutionize the way you build muscle, which ones are worth trying, and which ones should be avoided like the plague?

The answer is pretty simple. Many new supplements come and go, but there will always be staple bodybuilding supplements that have been proven time and again to be effective. It is here that we look for our foundational supplements for gaining muscle mass.

First, a proper multivitamin/multimineral should be chosen. These micronutrients are the foundational nutrients for which all bodily functions depend on. If we are lacking in any one of these vitamins and minerals, our body is not functioning at its’ optimal level, making it that much harder to gain muscle mass. In addition, while our body can manufacture some vitamins on its own, not one single mineral can be made within the human body and must be obtained through an outside source.

The next block in the foundation is adequate protein. Generally, five to six meals are eaten to ensure proper protein and calorie intake. To help ease the amount of time spent cooking, and also for convenience, protein shakes are used to make up two to three of those meals. There is a wide variety of protein shake options out there, each with its’ own benefits and drawbacks. To learn more about which protein options will better suit your needs, check out this article here.

With our protein intake and overall nutrition plan in place, we can start to look for additional bodybuilding supplements to help build lean muscle. One of the most popular supplements for strength gains and muscular endurance is creatine. There are various forms of creatine, and like protein powders, these creatine supplements also come with their own drawbacks and benefits. The tried and true form of creatine is monohydrate, but there are several other variations on the market now. Try them out and see which one you respond to the best.

After creatine, nitric oxide supplements are probably the most sought after supplements on the market. Nitric oxide (NO) is a gas that is created from the amino acid arginine. NO causes the veins to dilate, allowing more blood to flow through. This results in greater muscle pumps that last longer, better vascularity and a harder look to the muscles. Many NO supplements are used as pre-workout drinks to help push users through more intense workouts.

This is just the beginning of the most commonly used bodybuilding supplements. In future articles, we will go into more detail regarding additional supplements that can be used to gain massive muscle. For now, these supplements used in conjunction with one another are sure to pack on lean muscle mass in no time.
